I've been forwarding email spam to spamreport@extra.co.nz, as per Xtra's instructions a while back. I note that the offending spammers still get through on the same address, even after informing Xtra of the culprits. Has anyone else used this antispam service? Does it work for you? Is there any other place you can send spam reports? Thanks, from a frustrated user!

I am sorry but I am not sure on this.

I will say that I know one person whom has a Email address XXX@xtra.co.nz and I received two Christmas cards from that one person yesterday.

Each of these being 2.6 megs in size.

Having talked today to others one person got 60 Emails from that same address plus the same one I got.

Another person got 35 emails from the same address.

I spent some time showing people how to get into Webmail from their ISP and delete before in came through the dialup modem.

I hate to say it, but chances are those reports aren't even looked at - considering the volume of spam that is probably sent to that address. Mind you, you say you're forwarding it to spamreport@extra.co.nz - shouldn't that be spamreport@xtra.co.nz?

Also, I don't know how they go about blocking their spam, but it's generally done on content, rather than on email address, since these are usually spoofed and/or legitimate email addresses.

:waughh: Log onto the xtra site before you download emails and go to your inbox....Look for unwanted emails and spam....open the emails and scroll down to the "report this as spam" button....hit this button....after that it comes up "continue"...hit this button....next page hit the "delete" button...for the email....I do this daily and it appears to work....The spam is sent to another website called "brightmail" which filters the spam....hope this helps.....

Hi,
Yes I too have had 8 or 9 from a "spyspotter whose program I downloaded- ran a scan -was told I had several spyware intrusions-BUT to delete them I had to pay $30 US - which I refused to do.
Now I keep getting reminders about an updated version again I refuse to pay for .
I have sent even a written complaint to xtra suggesting they were not doing their job!
No reply as of this a m
Further - I have an ISP (Free.net)that gets a copy of xtra mail, where the spam has not been deleted before being sent on and spyspotter is not even in there to be able to bounced by Mailwasher Pro- whereas other spam is, and can be bounced- and is done so regularly.
