hi there, my friend bought a ex-cyber cafe computer.

We installed win2000 on it, however i think even before we installed it we couldn't access control panel.

How do you think i can go about either, getting it back or accessing it.

Did you completely reformat the hard drive first? What was the original OS?

Put the windows 2000 cd in and change the boot cd in the BIOS to the cd.

Then boot from the cd. So it'll format then install 2000.

When it says to press a key (the first time, on the post screen), press a key only once.

When it reboots a few times after this, dont press a key after it reboots.

Only when u have to enter the info in.

Otherwise, it'll go round in circles.

remove the battery, wait a couple of minutes and reinstall and boot to the bios

bob...let them know it's the CMOS battery on the motherboard you refer to and not a 9 volt or some other battery they might try to find.
