Thanks Joe. It says "Defender" isgoing to detect and remove rootkits.. I wonder if that includes sony's one.

It won't include anything that is installed by Microsoft partners....


....Including scumware such as Hotbar, Gator and anyone else jumping into bed with Bill.We can safely assume that Sony installs will be fine in the eyes of MS, Money talks.

.....nothing personal MET...I hope you're wrong about that..the rootkits anyway!

He's not wrong - there was an article quoting MS saying exactly that a while ago. They think its ok if its "harmless".

Interesting bit about rootkits here. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Root_kit) and here. (http://www.crookedtimber.org/) The second one, second item down, is about Sony claiming that most people don't know what a rootkit is "so why should they care about it." Interesting.
