View Full Version : Intermittent Startup

I have a problem with my PC, in that when I push the power button, the computer appears to start, but there is no start POST 'beep', no flash of the keyboard lights, and no video output. If I leave it in this state for a few minutes, then restart it via a reset, the thing normally starts up as it should. I have replaced the CMOS battery, but this has changed nothing. Any ideas?

What motherboard and BIOS is running? My Asus P4C800 Deluxe has somthing like that, where if I've overclocked it or changed a setting in the Bios, it will freeze when I boots next time. Try reloading the defualts of the BIOS .. or tell us what you havn't done in the BIOS (if anything)

Do you keep the P C in the coldest room in the place?
The motherboard might be malfunctioning- for one of a number of possiblities.
Or the hard-drive might be.

Check the capacitors on the motherboard for signs of leaking, bulging (very much similar situation to a Dell I had at work - it wiould seemingly start eventually).

Also try another power supply to see if that fixes the issue.

I assume this problem isn't related to any new hardware added or configuration change.
