A new install of XP and would really really like to turn off the wee reminder baloons that pop up from the tray icons bottom right :)
reminders to update windows, security etc
I have AVG and firewall on.

searched high and low to no avail :)

Right mouse on this link and select save file as. Depending on which browser u use.

Double click on the above file, and click on yes

Control Panel>Security Center>Change the way security center alerts me. There you can disable Windows security alerts.

If you want to disable all ballon popups, download Tweak UI. (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx) Once installed open and go Taskbar and start menu, then deselect "enable balloon tips".

Looks like Speedy bet me too it. I'd still get Tweak UI anyway, its got lots of good tweaks for XP, and it's made by Micorsoft so its trustworthy.
