Would appreciate any advice anyone can give me.

Purchasing new computer which has SATA2 200GB Hard Drive. Would like to partition the drive, is there limit on how many partitions I can make??? Would it be good idea to make swap file partition and if so how big should I make this Partition??? Got 512MB coming with the new computer.

You are limited to the number of letters in the alphabet less A, and C, However you can put folders on one partition and create other partitions as those folders, which makes it almost unlimited. It doesn't use drive letters though and installing to them is not easily done, but they make for good storage drives.

I make a drive Z: and make it about 1.5 to 2 gigs in size and put the swap file on that.

How big you make your other partitions is up to depending on what you want to put on them, but I wouldn't go any greater than 30 gigs for each.
