ive decided to ditch msn messenger and ive moved to Gaim, ive heard there is some encryption add on for gaim. where do i get this? and how do i know it works? and do the other people who im talking to need gaim aswell in order for it to be encrypted?

You mean the SILC (secure internet live conferencing) plug-in? It is included by default in the Windows port, and most pre-built binaries for *nix. If your are building from source then you will have to specify it.

Edit: But wait, there's more. There are two encryption plug-ins I never knew about at the GAIM site.

I've played around with the Gaim encryption feature for a short time. Both parties need to be using encryption. The Windows plugin can be found here (http://gaim-encryption.sourceforge.net/) and this is the project page (http://sourceforge.net/projects/gaim-encryption).

this is what a suspected then, both will need gaim and the plugin. im the only one using gaim out of my friends :rolleyes:
