Hi,
Ihave one these canon Pixma IP 5000 printer. Great printer, but very selective with paper. Used HP and Ilford photopaper in it, but that gives miserable results, with strange effects. Canon original photopaper works a treat. Why is this? Anybody experience with this printer and similar problems? Any solution?
Cheers mates

Because they want you to spend money on their products.

Its like HP photo printers. They only like HP photo paper. Other brands are ok on these, but not as good, or as clear as HP photo paper.

you don't have to use canon paper, i have some but only save them for the best photos. i use ilford photo satin paper - great for my portrait stuff, dick smith A4 & A6 glossy paper for average stuff (50 sheets each & $18, $16) - used on my ip4000r.
