I got a big problem with my pc. after typing my pass n usrnam in the xp login menu i get this error msg
"Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.

DETAIL - An I/O operation initiated by the registry failed unrecoverably. The registry could not read in, or write out, or flush, one of the files that contain the system's image of the registry. " then after pressing ok 2ndmsg comes in
"Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off."

after pressing ok for that msg . i get logged in with diffrent view and wallpaper. and most of the icons r gone. i cant view saved settings nxt time i login. i can run all the application. i am runnin win xp pro. i hav faced this kind of problem before it got fixed automatically. plz help.

Try this.
Click Start then Run in this box type sfc /scannow."there is a space after sfc"
This will run the windows file checker'and will ask for you install cd if reqd.

Your user account could be corrupted too' save every thing you need and delete your old profile and create a new one.

If your profile is corrupt, then do not delete it straight off. Create a new profile, then using an account with Admin powers you can transfer the settings and data from the old profile into the new one.
