How do I clear it,

let me explain

I enjoy the fact it caches webpage content etc, but I want to be able to clear my history of visited pages every once in a while (for google desktop search)

I clear my internet cache for opera, firefox and IE, but the pages are still searchable in google desktop search

How do i do this

I realise I can turn the caching off, or delete the files one by one, but surely there must be a "Clear Web Content" control somewhere

Get and download CrapCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/) and make the setting to your needs. It cleans well and thoroughly everywhere you want it to.

Wait a minute here! I think I misspoke myself.

That cache you want to remove is the way G-Desktop works!

It has to inventory and find everything you have..or what's the use of having it if you don't want it to catalog everything? It will take forever to re-catalog what is in your system if you want to use it...and that might take too long.

Is this to what you are referring? :illogical

Sort of

What I want to do is remove the webcontent side of the google cache, google keeps copies of all pages visited, even if they have been deleted from your browser cache, I have found a soloution
taken from here (http://groups-beta.google.com/group/Google-Desktop-Search/browse_thread/thread/ea0272b125c61a04/943d6e1b4e5d3d2c?q=web+cache&rnum=9#943d6e1b4e5d3d2c)

- Delete browser cache.
- Under preferences, verify web history search type is checked.
- Under preferences, set number of results per page to 100. This
allowed me to change the &num parameter within the current GDS search
- Be sure to save preferences.
- Just for the purpose of deleting a large number of files, I turned
off the "show pictures" option in the browser so that I wouldn't have
to waste time waiting for the thumbnail of the web pages to load. Be
sure to turn this back on afterwards.
- I brought up only web pages by searching for filetype:web within GDS.
Then I updated the URL to bring up 1000 pages at a time by adding
&num=1000 to the end of the current URL. You can use a different
number, but I feared anything significantly larger might cause the
system to lock up.
- Remove as normal (using remove items option). The removal page will
reflect the number of pages from the search page. Keep in mind that a
1000 pages takes much longer to remove than 10 pages (duh). After the
deletion the URL will refresh with the next &num search results, so
you'll just need to select remove items again and continue repeating.
- Under preferences, uncheck web history search type.

kind of handy as I had 5000 odd web pages in google cache, and I didn't want to delete the google cache and loose the rest of the index
