Is it possible to optimise an AVI file to make it more suitable for internet transmission. I expect that it may be possible to set up a series of files on my ISP or on something like Hotmail but I need to reduce the files first.

Any suggestions?

you can reduce the size but you loose quailty. otherwise cut it into multiable parts. if its really big i doubt you will be able to host it on your isp or hotmail.

what sort of size is it?

You can use Virtual Dub and the XviD Codec to re-encode them. Im a big fan of XviD, but for conversion of .vob files you simply CANT beat what is offered by Nero if you purchase Nero VisionExpress. As part of that package is Nero Recode which is 100% tops!!
