General tab

Should the selection be:

Normal startup or

Selective startup with all items selected

Many thanks

Normal. If something is unticked under the startup tab, it'll be on selective.

No. Selective, with what you want. In my case, I untick things like Find Fast, Office Start up etc. You can always open things later.

You can delete those in the startup menu in start/all programs.

Then they wont run. Or use the tools/startup option in Ccleaner.

Highlight the entries and delete. Voila, they wont run on bootup.

Untick everything under Startup except your firewall and anti-virus, then leave it on Selective.

I must say, Im with Greg and Peter H on this one. I dont know of a single box I have more than "User" rights to that still has Normal Startup enabled, its just a waste.

Quicktime has an autoloader which I find annoying... little things like that.

Post a list of whats in there Chris and somebody will help you go through it and decide what you do/dont need

This is a far better program to use to do what it is that you are doing:

Get this while you are there as well:

Spybot has a comprehensive (with explanations) startup editor,no need for 20 different tools.

If you are not sure of any programmes in your startup list, you can check them out at Sysinfo's Startup List (http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php)
