Hi

I have a Windows 2000 PC which I share a printer on. Last week I got the w32,Randex virus and have NAV and firewall. I did what the NAV website advised to remove the virus but other computers cannot print to my printer. Looks like the C$, admin$ and IPC$ shares are missing. When I try to browse the network from an other computer I get the following error

"The server is not configured for transactions"

Microsofts advice on this error seems to be reinstall windows

Please help

Paul

Have you completely remove the virus?

Strike a light JK - "Have you completely removed the virus?"

pmutton - I would run spybot and AdAware as well and a reg clean up. Norton is vast, huge, respectable and costly, like Microsoft.

Like M$, it is also full of holes......HTH...........m :)

Consarned Administrators, I was sure that was less than 15 mins.

Now I have to type it all over again. OK. _ OK not really a malware issue - bit of a knee jerk there. Go to Trendmicro, PCpitstop or other sites that come up with a search for "online virus scan" or for more certified ones try the same search here at pressf1 or check out the FAQs for virus prevention or even " basic maintenance' or go through johnboy's post for a complete listing of online viri scans.......hth...........m :) (still don't think that was 15mins:D)
