I built a new pc but it seems I am getting low marks on the 3dmark05 tests.

My system is a 3500+ Amd venice core
1 gig of OCZ Value Series RAM
6600 GT
DFI Ultra Lan Party Nf4 (618-2 bios)
Sound Blaster Audigy 2
450 OCZ modstream power supply

I received a score of 2934.

I have been reading I should be at least over 3500 or so.

Changed to the latest drivers? Shut off all unnecessary tasks while you ran 3DMark?

3D mark 05 is very hungry in graphics, even 6800 cards r struggling. only a sli systems that i have tested can get a good smooth test and score.

i got about 2700 3dmarks with a 2.6ghz celery, 9600pro, 700 or so mb of **** ram. So I figure something isn't quite right with your machine, drivers are the key. Eitherway, if your games play fine, then theres no need to worry, unless it is for penis size comparison.

Dont worry about it, you know you have a good computer if you can play any game fine.

A better benechmark is DOOM 3 ,Halflife 2 ,Farcry if those run fine its all good.

At least for now.......AH the upgrade path just keeps going and going!!!

I think benechmarks are made to encourage people to spend more and more money on computer components and make you feel never satisfield with what you have allready spent heaps of money on allready. :2cents:

Yes that score is a bit low, you should be getting around 3500 ish, looking up a thread I read the other day.

The fear demo is a shocker for performance, ignore this as it lacks optimisations and is a poor indicater. The software house is an ATI partner so its not likely optimised for Nvidia yet (guess). Also some belive having only 128MB (as with the 6600GT) might be an issue with this game and will penalise performance.

128Mb? With Fear? Thats for sure. You need 1 Gb.

lol I am talking about video ram not system ram, the 6600GT is a video card.

Ah. Yes. 256 then. Still system ram made a massive difference to its stuttering or lack of. The card ram is needed for detail.

No No most (like 95%) of 6600GT video cards are only 128MB, not 256, there are one or two manufactures making a 256 version but they are rear, DON'T get confused with the 6600 NON GT video cards that are often 256 (crappy cards and a waste of time).

Also Fear is VERY heavy on pixel shader side of things, and I am not talking about paging stutter. IE my poor little 9800XT struggles to get much over 35FPS in Fear, if you turn of shadows it jumps to around 70+ FPS everything else can be set to high detail. I for example have 2 gig of system ram, I am sure its GPU related. The 6600GT's are having similar problems as they are only up to 30% faster depending on the game. Lot of info in other forums on Fear, you can't trust it to benchmark at the moment.
