My mom just got a movie from her home country but it seems the dvd is in a VCD format. I popped it into my DVD player on my computer and all it does is reveal all the files and folders on the CD. Is there any way I can run this VCD movie?

I have a pioneer DVR-109 by the way.

Thank you.

I dont see why should it be a problem. Can you let me know the names of the files and their extensions. (Example: charlie.xls - if it is an excel file)

If it is in VCD format you should see a folder called MPEGAV on the disc.
In this folder there will be .dat file.
Double-click to open it and when it asks what program to use chose Windows Media Player.

Region-Free DVD Playback too. It'll play pretty much every file-type you can shake a stick at :)
