How many cookies do site usually lodge, place or whatever onto your machine?

Why do they need to do this? and what makes them keep adding more? Just playing with the cookie culler settings......

interesting results, and how can you work out what these sites, names are from and for? having multiple tabs open, names do not always seem obvious, or resulting from the tabs open - names matching thing doesnt really happen.

You're not getting much response here beetle so here's what you comes up first in Google by putting in "cookies explained", with the quotes.

Don't get concerned about Cookies, they are relatively harmless and required by so many sites that I just accept all and don't worry about them at all.
They can't send any important information about you and make navigating and using the internet easier.

Some people get themselves into a paranoid mess trying to control them which is pointless really.

I don't like them in general. For instance Amazon, if you have their cookie, next time you go there (if you have an account) it will know its you and straight away reconfigure to show you your preferred stuff.
However, so does logging in.
