View Full Version : hotmail cuts out computer

23-06-2005, 09:10 PM
Everytime for the last week I try to open my hotmail account , my computer clicks on and off, the screens colours change and sometimes it's complete shutdown. If it does click back on as soon as I touch a key or the mouse off it goes again. Tried different browsers, all the same. If I shut the window everything returns to normal. My os is xp. Any ideas I would be greatful.

That is very strange. It is only that website? No other secure login website has the same problem?

are your anti virus/anti spyware software up-to-date and running?

I don't know the answer but makes interesting reading, classic windows tale.

Reminds me of someone who, thought they had a major hijack or something.
Couldn't use Google or any search engine
A pop-up box came up saying to enter the request and IE will find it, if they
tried to open Netscape it defaulted to IE, the address bar in IE was
blocked, couldn't open Word properly, none of their digital photos
couldn't be viewed, no emails could be created in Outlook etc...

The Control key on the keyboard and was permanently 'on' even
though it didn't look like it. Switching to a new keyboard solved all the problems.

Have you got all the Windows updates and patches.
Are you getting any reference to LSASS.EXE
You may have the Sasser worm
Go to this site and download the removal tool and run it.

Just a bit of a really wild guess but are you going to Hotmail via a shortcut or are you typing the URL into your Address Bar?

Ok go into Internet explorer and click on TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, then "clear history", "delete temp files", "delete cookies" then click OK

now go here:

and download "Spybot - Search & Destroy"

once u've downloaded it CLOSE Internet explorer

once u've installed the program use the "UPDATE" feature inside the program to update it, then just SCAN UR PC. Now remove all spyware

once thats finished open Internet explorer up and click on start, then WINDOWS UPDATE and update ur pc

Once thats done go here:

Its a FREE online anti-virus scanner

Now restart ur computer and hopefully ur problem will be solved
