Do they appear in the Content IE folder? In which case they are part of your system files. You can delete the contents but not the file.

If it's not that try deleting them in Safe Mode, that way the program should not be running. HTH..........m

You mean like in C:\Windows\Temp?

Not familiar with XP. If that's what you mean and can't get rid of them then try it in Safe Mode.

Or this one:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Unlocker.shtml

Or boot into safe mode and delete them.

Have a look at the properties of the files. If the date and time look right, they are "in use" because they are being used "right now". If so, you mustn't remove them.

Temporary files are created for a reason. ;)

OK spaceperson what happened after you tried the things that were suggested here?

It really p**********es me off when help is offered and there's no response . It's a way I can learn too. I've learnt heaps here and I like to give back and I would thank you to reply even if it is just to say what you all said was a load of bollocks.

I went to the address http://www.softpedia.com/get/System.../Unlocker.shtml that pctec told me. it unlocked them and I found out that my active anti-spyware protection was the files that I canít delete so I just left them there because if I deleted them it would turn off my real time protection.

Isn't it terrible? :( The system wouldn't delete them because they were being used because they were being used. :)

Heads will roll at Microsoft if an information message actually gives information.

Worry about Temporary directories if they are holding many megabytes of many old files. There will always be a few files in them. That's what they are for.
