Any likely lad that can tell me if I have bought the right DVD?

I will take it back if I have made a mistake.

Do I indeed need optical out, want to be able to watch all formats possible with my machine.

At least I can ask 001 if I get stuck.

Sorry I wasn't clear there, what I meant is I didn't want the unnecessary gizmo's.Try as I might, I couldn't get the gorgeous thing in the shop to come and operate the thing.
