Hi,
I have a read only CD and a read / write CD whcih have worked well up till a couple of months ago.
I tried to load Nero 5 while I already had Easy CD loaded.
This seems to have created a problem as now I can't read or write to either CD.
I tried uninstalling all CD burning softawre and also deleted the hardware. When Windows XP found the 2 CD drives it said it couldn't load the drivers. The drives show in hardware with the yellow question mark. I tried to run a Nortons clean up disc , but as the CD won't read, I don't know how to get it to work.

Suggestions please.

I would suggest a visit here (http://www.cdrom-drivers.com/)

Download a driver and save it to floppy (or floppys), see if that works

Hi Ian, Welcome to PressF1 :)

Sometimes it can be hard to completely uninstall software, so you may find that traces of your previous CD writing software is interfering with the system. Try this program CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/) and remove any left over registry entries from both the CD burning software packages. You might also want to boot into safemode and uninstall the CD drives from there. Sometimes you find you have duplicate entries which are only visible in safemode under Hardware Management.

WinXP should provide default drivers for both those drives automatically.
