Some entries in the add/remove program list I can't remove. It doesn't even say when was the last time I used it. Some programs on the list work fine, but then again like 3/4 of the add/remove list have no "REMOVE" button. It just says rarely.

Is this a problem in my registry?

Have you scanned for viruses/spyware etc. You could scan your registry with RegScrubXP found here (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2048.html) give that a try and see how you get on.

I have like 5 of them on here...

Adware SE
Spyhunter
Spyware Doctor
XoftSpy
McAfee Anti-Spy

They all each find spyware that others can't for some reason...

You could try this program, I have had the trial version for ages, ver2.0 and it still works for me. Good for just what you are talking about:

If all u want to do is remove them use ccleaner.

It has an uninstall/rename option in it (under tools). And its free.

http://www.ccleaner.com

And u can also remove programs in the startup. So they dont run.

I still use ccleaner speedy, you're the one who recommended me to it.

I am just trying to fix this problem.

The problem isn't that the program isn't uninstalling, but the problem is there's no REMOVE Button for like 3/4's of the items on the Add/Remove program list.

All it says is rarely. It doesn't tell me how much space it uses, or when was the last time I used it, it just says rarely. There's not remove button. :@@:

Run the Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE). Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Uninstall. Click on the [+] next to Uninstall and a branch will expand under it, revealing all of the applications currently listed under Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs. Simply highlight any unwanted entries (with a single left-click) and hit Delete. One note about looking for your application in the Registry. It may not have the same name you see in the Add/Remove Programs dialog. If you're unsure about which entry to delete, you can usually click on a likely suspect in the list in the left pane to see a more thorough description in the right pane,

Wow, only a few programs show under the uninstall branch. :badpc:

Like McAfee shows, hijackthis shows, but alot of other programs are missing.

I'm using System Mechanic Pro, and it has an uninstaller feature on it.

It has two lists, Listed Programs and Programs installed not listed on Add/Remove.

Alot of the programs in the Installed not Listed on Add/Remove used to be on the Listed Programs, and those are the ones that I don't see on the Windows Add/Remove programlist.

I think it's a registry error.

This maybe similar

CAUSE

This problem can occur if the program you installed creates a registry key name that is longer than 60 characters in length. Add/Remove Programs only lists program names it locates up to the point it encounters this situation.

Altho this fix is for NT, not XP.

Something is corrupted and hard to find unless a level 10 programmer.
I am a level .002,so not much help :)

If this is the same harddrive that you were having major spyware problems on not so long ago... I'm picking you may have deleted something you shouldn't have ... or one of the applications you d/loaded deleted something.

I hate to be the one to tell you this but I had the same problem a few months ago. In the end I had to format and re-install everything. I tried un-installers, registry tools spyware removeres etc but nothing worked. I also used system restore but that didn't work either.

Try doing a system restore and see if that's fixes anything.. apart from that I would say you're looking at a reformat at this stage.
