To have MS Word/Excell print/publish to a pdf file do you
need Adobe Acrobat Writer or Adobe Standard 6.0 should be ok, or are they both the same thing?

You would need adobe writer, 6 is just a reader. Open Office has a pdf writer and the kicker is that it's free! and you can open your office documents with it.

Hi neptune. Look for PDFPRIMO. A perfect free small download that will do all you need in making pdf files from Word. Haven't tried it with the others but see no reason why it wouldn't work. www.primopdf.com

Do a serch of PF1, there are a few recent threads on this subject with good advice and links to PDF creation/conversion app's.

For myself, I use Cute PDF for MS products (print driver with Ghost script) and Open Office, which is slowly but surely pushing MS Office aside as my main productivity suite (it's on a recent PC World cover CD if you don't want to download it.)
