To have MS Word/Excell print/publish to a pdf file do you
need Adobe Acrobat Writer or Adobe Standard 6.0 should be ok, or are they both the same thing?

You would need adobe writer, 6 is just a reader. Open Office has a pdf writer and the kicker is that it's free! and you can open your office documents with it.

Hi neptune. Look for PDFPRIMO. A perfect free small download that will do all you need in making pdf files from Word. Haven't tried it with the others but see no reason why it wouldn't work. :cool: www.primopdf.com

Do a serch of PF1, there are a few recent threads on this subject with good advice and links to PDF creation/conversion app's.

For myself, I use Cute PDF for MS products (print driver with Ghost script) and Open Office, which is slowly but surely pushing MS Office aside as my main productivity suite (it's on a recent PC World cover CD if you don't want to download it.)
