View Full Version : Windows Media Player Streaming problem

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. In the Open URL dialog, try opening the file using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:").

... is what it says when I try to stream a video. I know the link isn't broken because others are still using it and I used it just over a day ago fine.
I've tried uninstalling and stuff, but nothing works. The file also won't play in RealPlayer or winamp.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Mostly it works great, however, there is one stream that has only audio but no picture. I don't know if this is a codec problem (probably) or what.

Can someone else please try it?

Does VideoLAN show it correctly or not?

VideoLAN has audio, but no visual.

Thats because asx is audio-only IIRC :)

I don't think so, this one's .asx as well and it's got picture - http://kikugamo.com/tvb/asx/cctv5.asx
And besides, I know for a fact that it's got visual because I've seen it.

PS - Thanks for replying so fast, I tried googling it before and nobody knew what to do. :yuck:
