View Full Version : Windows 95vs98: PCs in Network Neighborhood

Ok... here's my problem.
I use Win95 OSR2, and my friend used to use the first release of Win95. We installed Network card in our PCs and connect them. We can see our PCs in Network Neighborhood, especially because we put them in the same Workgroups.
But recently, my friend moved up to Win98, while I don't think it's worth it to upgrade, cause I use OSR2. Now, we can't see other's PC in Network Neighborhood, I will only see my PC alone. If I use 'Find Computer', my friend's PC will be found, but still not shown in Network Neighborhood. How do we fix this strange behaviour between Win95 and Win98 ?

have you tried rebooting both, let the 98 machine boot then the 95 machine, do both have a unique IP address or something attached to the network that sends out dhcp addresses like a broadband or wireless router?

The person has probably dumped his machine and dived into Windows "Hasta la" Vista after 10 years of hell with their networking... :p

Nice try WilliamF but the original post is from 1998!
Hopefully they sorted out this problem by now if they still have the same machines! :D
