All I do is from within Works is "save as" to excel format under the filetypes option then open the file with with Excel. Did it just two noights ago for a friend who upgraded to Office.

Can you not just open the files in Excel? In my Excel XP version there is an option to open "*.wks (MS Works 2.0 files)".
