I have just upgraded my ageing HP Brio P-III 750mHz from Windows 98 to Windows Me. i cant seem to get my display to show more than 16 bit colour. (video card ATI Rage II+ PCI 7mb)My 10GB harddrive only shows 1.99GB capacity. How do i get the other 8gb back? i first formatted the harddrive because my ME CD was a full installation not a upgrade.
Help would be very much appreciated.

Go back to Win98, its far superior.

As to the video, download a driver from ATI for it.

That is all.

Did you delete the old partion first and make a new 1 with large disk support enabled?

to add to metla....

you need to download and install ALL drivers, starting with the motherboard drivers.

Also, the 1.99GB partition size sounds very much like a partitioning problem, such as using FAT16 instead of FAT32, as Overdrive indicated. Make sure your boot floppy, if that is what you used, is not a dos6.22 :), and when partitioning say 'Yes' for enabling large disk support.

I'd be inclined to start again. But really Win98SE as already said, could be regarded as an upgrade on WinME

depends a little on if they had win98 or win98se. if win98se i would certainly go back to it if at all possible. winME would be better than win98 (only because a lot more programs won't work with win98), however you need to make sure you can actually get all the drivers for everthing. printers and scanners can be tricky as some simply don't have winME drivers.
