Hi

What are you doing when the PC shuts down and does it only happen after a period of time, or at any time? Does it give any error messages or does it just completely power off?

If it "shuts down" just as if it was switched off at the wall, then its not software, its hardware based.

It could be games that my son is playing (Video card FX 5200 128MB NVidia), scan for virus, just doind word processing or on the net, almost anything and after a period of time (there is no message) PC power off completely. Waited for a short while, turn off the power on switch at back of computer, and remove and re attach power cable to boot up again.

Your computer might be cutting out due to overheating with the warmer weather. Check and keep an eye on the temperatures of the case, CPU, etc.

next time it happens, when it boots up press DEL to get into the bios, then go to the pc health menu(its called something like that) and you should see your temp, post back your temp and we can go from there :)

how many case fans do you have?

I also had that problem a while ago and it was the power supply that was failing, new PSU fixed it.
