what would be a good sub $200 16XDVD burner that ,ovbiously, is 100% +/- R/RW compatible, that also can write to dual layer discs?

also, at this price how much spped will i lose when switching to the 2nd layer?

thanks in advance

Bit of a waste until the media comes down in price but from memory (and unreliable at best) I think the second layer gets burnt on average at a therotical 2.4 x speed

I got the ASUS 1604P 16x DVD burner down the road for $190. Its dual/double layer. Does +/- and CD's.

I dont think it'll lose that much speed. Depends whether its 2.4 or 4x burning when it does DL I spose.

NEC 3500 around $170ish. Kicks Asus butt

The dual layer media, as pointed out, is blimmin pricey, but if you want to burn 8GB+ then it's there if you want. Coasters will hurt though.

Asus are pretty reliable I like their products, not too worried bout this burner's cd burning. I'll just use the 52x.

And since no shops around here sell NEC burners, then obviously I couldnt buy them
