View Full Version : SchoolTycoonSetup-dm.exe

I tried to download the trial version of school tycoon from http://www.trygames.com/game/aff=trygames/vid=06838fadb6de306f3142df6b83b0a53c . When I went to download it I realised how long it was going to take to download and decided that I didn't want it anymore.
I thought that I would be able to just send the file to the recycle bin, but when I try to do that a error comes up saying: "Cannot delete SchoolTycoonSetup-dm: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again."
I need help getting rid of it because it is getting really annoying

Also when I search for the file on my computer, it comes up with the list of files and the ones that are something to do with the school tycoon file are in a blue font. All other searched files are written in black. What does this mean?

Hope someone can help.

Hi, welcome to Press F1

have you tried restarting your computer in Safe Mode and then deleting the file?

Yeah, I've tried in safe mode and nothing happens, the same error comes up.
I think I'm just going to have to complete the download and then delete it.
do you think the "-dm" has anything to do with it? Any idea's about the blue font?

what where you downloading it with ? where you useing a download manager ?
what is the location of the file ? whats the extention?

I'm not too sure exactly because my brother was actually the one who wanted it. I think he just clicked on download and saved it to the desktop and opened it with winzip. Then once that file was installed, there was an icon added to the desktop, which controls the download. When I connect to the Internet, the download continues thought that desktop icon saying "download progress x % done [pause] [cancel]" It's automatically being saved to C:\Downloads.
I am downloading the file and will just have to wait until it finishes (34% done), when I can hopefully delete it.

sounds like he downloaded a setup.exe (basicly a downloader) so you won't be able to delete that file untill the downloader has been stopped (give it the 3 fingered salute).

i would also give the pc a run through with adaware/spybot.

I've ran adaware/spybot and it seems all sweet. I am just waiting for the download to finish so I can finally get rid of it. Currently 37% done.

Ctrl/Alt/Del should show the download task. Try shooting it from there. :D

I tried that too Graham L. I think that I will just let the download finish and then delete it after the trial time has expired. 45% done.

Cannot delete SchoolTycoonSetup-dm: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again."

there is a app out there that can show what program is actually using that file, its been mentioned here in the old fourm, but i cant think of the name.

I finally finished downloading the file. When it was installing, there was an error half way though. I went to the file to play it and it doesn't work.
The file on my desktop is still there and when I click on it, it starts downloading all over!
Is there any news about the app that can show what program is actually using that file?

Any idea why when I search for school tycoon, it comes up like this?
school tycoon
(the blue font.

There's another small problem now though. When I click on explorer to go on to the internet, it doesn't ask me to connect so I have to go in to Start/conect to and connect. I think I did something wrong in spybot

Set Internet Explorer to always dial a connection.

Tools>Internet Options>Connection.
