Hi.
Can someone please recommend a good program that gives a detailed list of installed hardware (hopefully one that gives model/chip numbers) to make finding correct drivers easier.
Thanks

I don't know yet.
A friend is bringing around an old computer to format and reinstall drivers etc. (I don't know what components are in it yet). :)

Belarc Advisor is also good - small and comprehensive. Gives s/numbers for most components

SiSoftware Sandra 2005 (http://www.sisoftware.net) can identify and benchmark PC components.

Installed that very early this morning after reading your post. Had been looking for something like that but was waiting for someone to mention one that they had found would do the job.
Have also been watching the way you have helped people who have been posting here with problems. You have a good manner with people. Cheers.

Thanx for the compliment MMM :) I try and help people, well as good as I can.

If I know what the problem is, I'm happy to help out with whatever the problem maybe.

I've been there done that (well with the things guys ask about here) about making systems up, installing Windows..etc. I do this kind of thing, in my spare time (When I have money that is)!

Never dealt with Linux/Apple tho. Altho, I may check Linux out one day.

I also usually fix mate's PC's, and removing viruses, trojans etc. It keeps me occupied.

Cheers
