View Full Version : No Dial Tone?

I have a 233PII with a dynalink V1456 VQH-R modem. For the last few days, every time I go to dial up I get an error
message saying there is no dial tone and check cable. I have checked the connections and the line by plugging in a phone that
works fine and also connected the modem to a different line and still get the same problem.
If I unplug the cable and plug it in again, the modem works OK apart from my connection speed now being 26400bps instead
of a rock steady 33600 in the past. I have unchecked 'wait for dial tone before connecting' in the modem applet in control
panel, but does not have any effect. I have removed the modem both physically and the software and reloaded it, but no
change. I have not downloaded any communication software recently to trigger this sudden change.
Any solutions?
