I’ve got ClearNet as one of my ISP’s. Just lately I’ve been downloading quite a bit of music so I thought I’d check to see how my bill looked. To do this I was advised that I had to install the latest VM Plug-in from a download site they provided. Having done that everything worked fine but I find I now have a Icon on my desktop called “Java Web Start.”

Can someone explain briefly what “Java Web Start” is all about and what is a VM Plugin? Double-Clicking the Icon wants to hook onto the Internet for some obscure reason.

Its for Java. Some sites need it so they do whatever properly.

Opera and Firefox may also need it. If u have XP SP1 has Java as part of the install.
