Hi, there is a Linux mag currently in the shops which I can't remember the name of (Linux Magazine?) which has Yoper 2.1 on the acompanying dvd. Anyone purchased it; I am curious to know how many Yoper cd images come on the dvd.

Yoper is only a one CD installation distro of ~693 MB so the DVD should only have a single image on it, but I imagine the DVD will also have the rest of the magazine's programs etc on it.

Haven't seen the magazine yet, but I think the only Linux one I see around is the "Linux Journal"?

Thanks Jen, the dvd also has Knoppix 3.6 on it and some video but thats probably about 2GB. They've probably filled it with something.

Aren't real distro's at least 3 cd's worth

It depends on what apps are bundled with them. Fedora is pretty generous in that respect, which is why it runs to four CDs. :)

Who needs CDs or DVDs to install Linux?
I've got somewhere the set of 4 floppies which an ISP in Portugal provided to get its customers on-line. :D It uses a 20MB file on a FAT disk as its disk. :D

Gentoo's Stage 1 is tiny.... You can do a stage1 install and only go through a few hundred MB....

DSL is 50MB
Tomsrbt is tiny too.....

I find floppies a bit unreliable at times...

Stage 3 is 85MB IIRC.... You'll need the bootable Install/Rescue Disc which is another 50:
