I see
Currently Active Users: 87 (6 members and 81 guests)

It's a bit hard to work out the true number, unless you get the guests to logon with a temporary name before they can view the threads.

I wonder what the ratio between members & guests during the day is.

you'll get a lot of guests and even more robots/spiders sitting there 24/7

If you see a vbulletin forum that lets you see what user's are doing in a who's online page, you'll notice things like "Guest - Moderation Duties" etc

edit: Doh, would you look at that:
http://pressf1.co.nz/online.php?

It's just a harmless quirk, ignore it

Unfortunately the googlebots/spiders etc (small progams sent out by the search engines to see what is new on a website/page and then to index it so that it can be found with a google search or whatever), appear on this site as "guests" They are bots and not real people lurking around PF1 :p. There can be quite large numbers of bots/spiders on this site at anyone time, so the guest count is normally very inaccurate if you are using this to judge how many people are viewing the site in guest mode.

You can find out more about them here: Googlebot: Google's Web Crawler (http://www.google.com/bot.html)

That's an extraordinary high number of bots... must be the size of the site - my forum used to get up to about a dozen max at a time, until I traced all their IP's and disallowed the lot of em! ;)

The little bots are earning their keep then, aren't they? :p

What cracks me up is the number of views per thread, yet the small amount of replies. Or are they the bots scanning it repetitively?

Well if anyone is interested in what the spiders/bots are up to ... you can now view them under the "Who's Online" page doing their thing ... :p

They are listed as spiders rather than guests now.

Never heard of MicroScam.

If you made a typo and meant Microsoft ... well then, there seem to be some of those following all your posts for some reason? :p
