Oh, I am sure it is possible .... you know how eager PF1ers are to seek and share information, that they would do anything to assist. Even if it does mean an early start, or a late finish :) :) :)

Only a nod and a wisper in /. terms, or maybe it's people searching for a**e and coming up with Metla's photo competition thread   they'd be sorely disappointed with the form :yuck: if not the marvelous art work.

This is definitely not right. I was fast asleep!

Lets see how many people can respond to say they were online at 4:45am on 22nd December 2004.

Boy, if you think that number is funny, have a look at how many have popped in to do a bit of peeping and peering at Metla's competition piece. Including me, several times. :D Purely for research on how to use Photoshop of course.

As the forum CP states:

"All timestamps displayed on the forums can be automatically corrected to show the correct time for your location in the world."

Therefore consider that the time shown in the "most people on-line" statement has no basis for reality in the NZ time zone, its likely set to something entirely different.

It could be quite true. 0445 looks like a good time to do a performance test on a server. I first thought of a backup, but that wouldn't need to have any users logged on.

dont forget that guest users count as one, and sometimes it stuffs up and shows multiple guest users when it is just one, e.g if you have more than one window open (well at least this happens with phpBB)

note: i am not ranting about phpBB.

Something wrong with those figures. I logged on at 4.45 this morning and there were 7 0n one channel and1 on the other.

Googlebots - that is what has been visiting us in large numbers :D

There is a tribe of them now crawling the site which is why we have a rather large number of "guest" onboard

Well how about telling robots not to crawl the site?

They did that on the old forum...

Problem is that we don't have a /robots.txt file. The old server, I think, told robots not to follow links and not to index content.

It's really up to the admins, I guess. It provides publicity for IDG if this forum turns up in search results (in which case even the admins might not have control - it could be an order from higher up).

Perhaps there's a way to filter robots from showing up as guests? That could be something for the gnomes to investigate when they get back. :D

Interesting,a google for Metla brings up a dozen recent threads from this forum. They sure where onto this forum quickly.

And a couple threads from smilecity where someone with the same username was making a pratt out of himself.

It also beings up my metal site...woohhooo,but thats another story.

Have just noticed this thread, and that I am listed among the ones online.
Maybe the PF1 clock was getting the Xmas spirit early and misreported the time, as I certainly wasn't one of the 263.
Still, whatever the time really was, that's a good number.
