It's a bug in the code.

Do not use the icons to apply the smilies, use the characters from the keyboard instead.

It's been well covered about a day ago, with the full reason.

Well clicking on the icons seems to work just fine here, so i must ask, what browser and what operating system are you using?

*this post made with Konqueror on Mandrake 10*

 :help:

*and edited with Mozilla/Mandrake10 complete with a change of smilys!*

Its been covered here before, but its to do with which editor you have chosen as the default I think. The advanced one may be the one that gives the problems?

Or perhaps it's been fixed.

Do a search, there is not many posts on the new forum to check out!

So if answering this post is reinventing the wheel, we'd better decide what color it should be:

And looky what happens when i go into enhanced WYSIWYG mode. Its exactly the same EXCEPT that the smily insert function no longer works!

Nor does most of the formatting... What a wonderful "enhanced" feature.
I think i shall go back to "User CP > edit options" and take "enhanced WYSIWYG" off my xmas card list!

Standard editor rules!
