This thread is for anyone who wants to suggest something for the new Press F1

me: I suggest that there should be more Smilies (emoticons or whatever you call them)

Allow more threads/posts per page - give an option so we can choose how many to display. Being able to display 100 per page like on the old forum was great - no need to flick through pages and pages of posts.
Make the next page link bigger (rather than the last page link) at the bottom of each page.
There was a number 3, but I forgot what it was :p

Why not turn off the display of individual post counts. That will reduce the amount of overhead caused by people who think size matters. :)

lol Graham :)

I've just adjusted the number of threads/posts per page, this goes up to 80 now - hope this is more to your liking

You know, the spell check never did that much for the quality of posts before :stare:

At least now we can go back and edit our mistakes ....

Oh, Quality is that which is mercifully unstrained. Or unrestrained, or - err - - :help:

Can this be done:

I open up a stack of threads into new tabs in the background to view and on the old forum the links for these threads used to change to the visited link colour. On this forum the unvisited links are bold and stay bold until the page is refreshed. I don't want to refresh the page until I have read all that I want to view but I do want the links to go unbold to show that the thread was visited after clicking on them.

Possible?

Yeah and there will be no excuse for post-padding in the new forum. You have the ability to edit your posts.

i'm shocked, all you have to do is right click to spell check locally, why wait 10 seconds for each technical term to be queried by the PF1 server?

I have a suggestion for the new forum Mary-Bruce, Differentiate the post count between PF1 Help Forum and PF1 Chat Forum

That's great Mary - any chance you can lift it to 100 like on the old forum?

And while you're at it, can you also allow us to display more than 20 threads on the forum main page (eg 100) like on the old forum? That would be much better than having to click through pages of 20 threads. There aren't enough threads displayed on the main forum page. At least give us the option to choose how many to display - 20 isn't enough.

Thanks,
Mike.

It would be great to have a "Return to Threads List" at the bottom of the page like in the old forum instead of having to scroll up to the top or replicating the bar at the top and putting it at the bottom

Jen

If you scroll right to the bottom and click on the Forum Jump - Go button, it will take you back to the mainpage of the current forum you are surfing. Next best thing I guess.

Yay! I love this quick reply. Nice to have the list back to 80 max. Much closer to 100 than 40 ;-)

I wonder if it would be possible to have a login timeout after a period of inactivity. Being of somewhat advanced age and with the consequent forgetfullness I sometimes don't remember to logout. Come back the next day and see that I'm still logged on but not really there, no big thing, but gives an incorrect impression of whose there at the time.

I believe it has a default timeout period of about 30minutes (15?) When you're coming back and seeing yourself, it's most likely because you've already authenticated thanks to cookies, and therefore you'd be on the who's online list

Disagree. The post count as it is now does not add to the information, and splitting it will tell us nothing of any use. Leave it as it is.

Twas, a tongue in cheek suggestion Tony, a small troll.

It would be a mildly intersting statistical excercise on who posts what where, but would bear no relation to the usefullness of the posts, which are in the eye of the beholder, as always, anyway :)

And also having the Forum Jump - Go button at the top of the page as well would be a good thing too.
