View Full Version : home server httpd/mysql but cant get php to call

Morning all.

I have installed on my home computer an apache webserver and sucessfully installed MYSQL as well. I have a cable (telstra saturn) conenction and can access the server acros the net. It displays HTML pages real well.

But when I try to run PHP code (have installed version 5) it doesnt seem to recognise it or do anything.

I have reinstalled all the software with a download from www.apachefriends.org/en/ . I am running Fedora Core 3.

Now I am baffled. Any hints on anything obvious I am not doing.

Looking forward to your replys.

Have you enabled mod_php in your apache.conf file?

the bleeding edge has cut you. try php version 4.x.x, as many apps won't like php 5

how do you enable the mod-php in the apache.conf file?

You might want to have a look at a program called XAMPP (free) which is apache/mysql/php/perl/ all pre-configured so it's easy to install.

I use the windows version for testing out web stuff, and it works great.

Thanks for that. Did that yesterday and seems to be working. All i have to do now is figure out how to make directories writable. I am trying to install xoops and its having a few problems
