The icon on my task bar that appears when I am connected to ISP has gone walkabout.

And "Start\settings\network connections" has decided to disappear.

Where would they go?
Everything is working OK.

maybe R click my computer on the desktop , explore - dialup networking , R click the connection , properties tab , configure , options - make sure " display modem status " or similar is ticked

Check under this:
Right Click on Start > Properties > Customise button > Advanced Tab. Scroll through the list and select "Show Network Connections".

Start/Control Panel/Make sure you are viewing them as Classic View and not Category View
Open Network connections
Right click on ISP icon and select Properties
With general Tab selected make sure at the bottom "Show Icon" is ticked
