Today when I get an e-mail from pressf1 and click on the link, it doesn't work. Clicking produces nothing.
Just thought I'rd ask before I start fiddling with my comp.

This can happen if uve made another browser the default

How right you are. I installed Firefox yesterday and made it default browser. Un-defaulted it and all works fine.

I get the same problem sometimes with many different sites.
Clicking on a link does nothing so all I do then is right click on the link and click on open and everything is back to normal.

Similar problem - in reverse for me. I click a link in an email and it opens twice. Once on the local drive as a temp file after downloading contents first, and also as normal. I want to get rid of the downloaded and local drive version.

Using Firefox.

The dead links can be fixed, not sure how but, came across it somewhere on the net. Probably a registry tweak to loosen IE's grip.

I take it your still using OE Jack and not Thunderbird, which should get along very happily with Firefox. It's similar to OE but a nicer IMO.
