I have just bought a pc with windows 98 on it and I can't create any new documents, shortcuts or folders anyware in the operating system. What could have caused this and how can I alter windows to display the new menu when I right click?

It should apear in a drop down list,So presuming you have bought a secondhand PC that was delivered with issues i would sugest formatting it and starting with a clean slate....Or even a dirty install overtop of the exsisting OS

As long as you have a windows cd it should be straight foward,Back up your drivers with Driver Genius before doing any major work...

metla sorry about that. Thanks for your help. It was only directed at Peter H who didn't think I could right click the mouse on the desktop. The problem is when I do that the new submenu does not appear and I thought I sent a clear post for help
