Anyone know of some good free games? Any type is ok, as long as they are fun :), and preferably not online, but 2 player is fun for offline.

There are a few good ones at sourceforge, but a lot of them are too big, or are online ones, eg bzflag, which chews through my poor 1gb bandwidth.

I dont think ET and AA meet those requirements. ET is purely multiplayer, i think AA has a single player train mission type senario, but both are largish downloads coming in at around 600mb or more.

Penguin Command
Linux version of missile command ported to windows.
Excellent sound and graphics about 4 meg download, very basic requirements, very addictive.

You bet! lol Did you ever try Magic Mushrooms? I think Jetpack must've been derived from it.

Well the real magic mushrooms are things to be avoided... bordering between hallucinogenic and fatal if ingested.

not as quick as you might think metla, it takes about a week - panadol is slow-mo way to go

hmm.....I do remember being in hospital getting something flushed through my system to clean it out and the doc telling me it was a 24 cycle, at which point one is either fine or the internal organs are packing up and you start the process of dieing.

The lesson in all this, if you have a nasty toothache then crushing a few hundred panadols onto the affected tooth is not the way to treat it....

andrew93

:^O can't say I've ever tried that.....

This is what you're after (http://www.dosgames.com/g_side3.php)

Cant beat those old games for DOS, like Commander Keen 4, Jill of the Jungle.. Blues Brothers...

Man I remember running those on my 20Mhz 286 w/4MB Ram!

Grief!!! That's a great link Chilly... Sheesh I remember Jazz JackRabbit too - my daughters absolutely loved that one!

The original Duke Nukems were great fun, not Duke3D but the original side scrollers. Dont know if there free, but there were demos that had the first few levels. If you can find the relevant emulator and rom then Metal Slug was wicked aswell. I've spend many summers days at the arcade shooting my way to victory.

Heh, I had Jazz JackRabbit 2. Me and my little brother got into some arguments about that :0 . It was too easy just to run like heck in 2 player, so he couldnt kill me, and the other way round.

Yeah, I remember finishing Jazz Jackrabbit... Only ever had the Trial of Jazz 2.

Jazz Jackrabbit Christmas was great....

And who can remember the origional Lemmings! Now there was a good way to kill hours!

I got up to the first level on the hardest level of difficulty but could never get past that 1st on on that set :-(

Pingus is a good replacement now :-)

Yeah Lemmings! I downloaded a version recently but couldn't get the sound to work properly, which was half its appeal

Ahh... I love Firefox.... I just selected the text where you'd said "download Rodents Revenge", right-clicked it and told Firefox to Google Search for it.

These are my results (http://www.google.com/search?lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=download%20Rodents%20Revenge)

Go to places like Popcap games, Real Arcade, Shockwave or Yahoo Games - there are all sorts to download from these sites. And then visit mscracks or crackspider to get the codes - then you've got hours of entertainment for all ages

Most DOS games run fine on my XP, if not - that's why I have 3 old crappy computers with different soundcards (as this seems to be the main compatibility issue)
