Hey,

Can someone explain to me what the point of the Wireless Nodes are at www.nodedb.com? Are these people who have access points and boosters who want to bridge connections into one big WLAN? Or what?

Sounds interesting to me.

You've pretty much got the idea. Not all of them are live nodes though - some of them are people who are interested, but haven't yet got any gear because there is nobody close by to connect to.

If you want to be that broad, the "Whole Net" is just really file sharing.

The nodes/clusters are mini nets, with backbone hookup's.

Theres heaps of things that can be done over the wifi networks, such as P2P, VoIP, IRC, if you can do it on the net you can do it over the wifi network. Often internet access is also avaliable, sometime free or at a small fee.
