It appears that AVG 6 will not be supported from December. I see that they offer a free trial only of V7 - am I reading it right & there will not be a full free version available?

The way I read this page
http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/16/lng/us/tpl/v5
There is Beta testing at the moment for a new free version & the final version will be available for free download early december

No need to dispair , as there are still 2 free AV's out there.

Avast (http://www.avast.com/eng/download/index.html) and Antivir (http://www.free-av.com/)

It is our pleasure to introduce the second BETA release of the completely new generation of AVG Free Edition.

Looks like its free to me,only because they referred to it as free though. If they get their marketing advice from isp's they will offer it as free, get you to agree to a contract then start sending bills for abuse of the system.

Answer to solve the confusion:

Last time I checked, the PAID version of AVG 7 was out of beta and had been fully released. The FREE version of AVG 7 is still in beta, but will be released FREE OF CHARGE before the end of the year (not sure exactly when though, the date has changed a few times).

I see it the same way as 45South and Bletch but Major Geeks (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download886.html) appear not to. :|

Guess we will just have to wait and see.

I'm trying to figure out, how to get rid of the "splash screen" on startup. I know I did it on V6.0 Also fooled me a moment ago, when it did an auto update. Must delve into the settings.
