I am on the Jetstream Home 500 plan ie 2mbps, 500mb allowance, $59/month.

I am certain I get nowhere near a 2mbps connection and the NZDSL Speedtest shows 858.9 Kbps or 105.3 Kbytes/sec. (after downloading the registry tweak). I did ask Xtra at the time about the speed and I seem to remember them saying that even though I was close to the Exchange, the Exchange could only handle 1Mbps (approx 18 months ago)

I am thinking of changing to the new Everyday plan ie 1mbps and a 1gigabyte limit for $44.95. The extra allowance isn't really an issue, but I thought that since I don't get a 2mbps connection at present, plus its cheaper then I may as well switch.

Any thoughts? Would you switch?

I would switch. I you can't get anymore than 1Mbps then why pay for it?
Plus you'll be getting 1GB limit (albeit still unreasonably pathetic for a fast connection) instead of 500mb as before - for alot cheaper.

I would. Why not? Currently, your paying for services that you cannot get... simply helping Telecom make more profit!

Not only is it cheaper, you can also use 1gb a month instead of just 500mb. Your speeds will not be affected, because 1mbps is all that your exchange can handle anyway.

You're not even reaching the 1mb speed cap set by Telecom for those new plans, couldn't you get the $40 plan with 1gb at 256k - unless you need the extra speed of course.

They are now gone and replaced by the 2Gb/192Kb speed connection. The Surf plans are gone. I would take one of the new ones as they are the same price as the surf plans were and cheaper then full JetStream.
