Fedifragous

Treacherous, deceitful

A great word for putting in references for ex-employees who
spent their entire sojourn with the company attempting to white-ant
their colleagues

What does white ant mean?

Is that a serious question Ted?

To "white-ant" is to covertly eat away at and undermine authority etc.

In other words to act treacherously.

Eat away at, or undermine Ted, as termites eat away foundations.

Goes along with "damning with faint praise", and such expressions as "he's really great at some parts of the job" leaving the direct criticism unsaid. There are many other examples, no doubt a few more will be added to this post.

Cheers

Have you had an infestation by these white ant's Billy? They can usually be identified as the ones that know their employment rights by heart but, will often test the waters (stir) at someones elses expense.

Murray,

We had another name for such, had to do with colour and stomachs,

I could not find the topic word in my dictionary.

If used in a reference would it not possibly offed employment lawyers.

Ummm...... I wouldn't recommend using such a word in a reference.

The law is such today that you are safer not giving a reference at all.

Winston,

You are so right about not giving.
