When I try to shutdown my computer I get the message "updates being installed (1 of 2)" then on another screen "do not turn off or unplug your computer, it will turn off automatically."

However, nothing happens the PC just hangs. I do not have automatic updates enabled. My OS is Windows XP. Removing the power from the PC and restarting it is ok but the message appears when I restart the PC. Is this a virus?

? So u use 2 screens? or 1?? or these errors appear at different times?

I wouldnt pull the plug out, while it's running if I were u. You could do some damage. Just press the reset button.

Does it say the names of the updates at all??
