I have Xandros and windows on my comp and would like to know is it possible to cut and past from within xandros over to windows.
I can see windows files ok using Xandros file manager (Administrator) but I get an error message when I try to copy into them.

What file format does your Windows partition use? FAT32 or NTFS? What does the error message say?

You may be better off getting Ext2IFS for Windows, which will allow you read/write capabilities of the (Basic) native Linux Filesystem, Ext2 or Ext3. IIRC, Xandros installs onto Ext3 by preference.

Google for Ext2IFS and install it :-)
If you're running Win9x, then you'll have to use Explore2FS for accessing your linux partitions which isnt as good as Full-out Windows Drivers, but its good none-the-less!
