Being all the intelligent people that you are... I need help with naming my boat.
My GF has suggested "The Whistling Banana" which is the best we have come up with so far!!!
I know it can be better!!! (no point cursing the poor boat before summer!!)
Winner may get a bottle of sparking grape juice to dull the pain of this inane thread.

TIA

Hi there,

Can you describe the boat? It would help us with ideas. Is it a cruiseliner or a dinghy. What colour is it. Perhaps attach a photo of it?

Good luck

I was going to come up with somthing like "Megafun" but you know the type of name that turns you on so why not try here:\

It has a good search facility -- just key in a word or part of a word that you like and go looking.

Superstition I know but if you plan on going fishing in that (beaut) boat then don't let a banana within 100m of her.

OverDraft might press a few buttons too.

Any complaints from SWMBO, name it FirstWife as a gentle reminder as to how temporary that status can be.:D

Some names NOT to call her ...

Wet Dream (Whangaparoa sailboat I looked at buying)

Does Suzy? (Tutukaka)

Suzy Does! (Tender for Does Suzy?)

Canal (a Farr sailboat in Northland. Those who know radio telephony procedures will apreciate their initial radio call up includes the type of vessel (Farr) and the name (Canal)) ....

Cheers ;\

I forgot to add. Ended up buying a Raven sailboat I wanted to re-name "Lunatick" So I could announce my presence on the airwaves as the "Raven Lunatick". Vetoed by my sailing partner. Some people have no sense of humour.

> Name it after your girlfriend.

Or name it after your ex-girlfriend (the one you never told your current girlfriend about).

I just had a look at your boat and you should give it a classic name, it is a fantastic piece of technology, why demean it? You will want to sell it one day and if it has a crappy name it will just look bad.

Uranus, no, Neptune, how about Pluto, that's quite dark, but Sun King is nice.

Serene, Moonlight Raider. Oh I don't know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a pretty fancy smart-arse boat.
Looks beautiful & is designed for play - not working for a living.
If it was a working fishing boat, it would have a female name - usually the original skipper's wife - which would continue through the next generations of owners for a hundred years or so.
That's what happens to the working boats down here which deal with real rough waters, instead of skimming over the top on nice days.
Pick a name here & it lasts for the life of the boat. People can point to grandmothers/great grandmothers whose names were chosen.
Pick yours & I expect it''ll last until you sell it..
Or am I wrong?
Happy to be proved so.

Powerful stuff, zquerty.
Not easily understood without some background knowledge.
But thanks for sharing your feelings. Food for thought is always good.
