I want to create a shortcut to ping a site in command prompt.

eg, when you open XP command prompt, type "ping www.google.co.nz"

Can I turn it into a shortcut or something so I can just click on it, and it carries out the ping command?

Open up notepad and type in

ping www.google.co.nz

and save as (say) google.bat. Create a Windows shortcut to the file.

Or just create a shortcut to the ping executable and chuck the host you want to ping directly in the shortcut.

You may want to put on the -t argument so it keeps on going rather than just doing four pings and then closing off.

ie:

ping -t www.somerandomhost.com

That way you can close it when you're ready, not after 4 attempts.
